At MAIF, Humanism, democracy and solidarity are the heart of mutualist modele. Indeed, all these values are carried by the commitments of this mutual society, of the directors and agents, of the employees, and even of the elected members of the general meeting. MAIF's CSR approach is supported by all of the company's businesses. But then how does the management at MAIF ?

What is MAIF?

MAIF was created in 1934 in the middle of a France tormented by financial scandals and social crises. This was simply born when the teachers decided to invent a mutual independent of capitalist companies who pumped their money without earning anything in return. This mutual was named the “Mutuelle d'assurance automobile des teachers de France”. When it was created, it already had just over 300 members, 13 of whom were women. This mutual insurance decided to center itself and to take as one and only principle the human being. Thus, each member is an insurer and insured at the same time. That's what made her propose a completely different mutual fund model of those that exist, trust and humanitarianism have made MAIF so successful today.

Today, the principles of MAIF have not changed, they improved and developed further, so as not to forget any category of people in society.

37.50% of the shares in the governing body is worn by women, and 41.67% of the shares on the board of directors are represented by women. Unfortunately, these figures are not found as often in other companies.. MAIF thus proves its integrity.

Operation and management of MAIF members

At MAIF, there is no shareholder policy, the company acts alone benefit of its members. Thus, it gives the most invested a predominant role, the behavior and commitment of all the members leads to an excellent understanding within the working group. MAIF activists are permanently active in all regions of France, they are in direct contact with members, which greatly facilitates the tasks to be carried out. Their commitment is exercised in perfect complementarity with employees, with the same perspective and the same ambitions at the service of members.

In order to promote the principles of CSR (corporate social responsibility) which are dear to MAIF, the employees have understood that they must first apply them to themselves. It is precisely for this reason that MAIF has committed to integrating the principles of CSR in all activities necessary for the proper functioning of his business:

  • environmental policy,
  • executive compensation or purchasing policy,
  • social policy.

MAIF has global environmental objectives engaged. It strives to minimize the impacts resulting from all of its activities as much as possible, while supporting awareness-raising initiatives within society. For example, the insurer takes the liberty of supporting college students in their first aid training.

The insurers also accompany the organizers and the leaders of the UNSS, without forgetting the referees. Thus, for MAIF, it is important to promote all disciplines that would help everyone to flourish in life and to forget the daily stress.

A policy of democratic governance

Within the MAIF, the members elect their delegatess themselves, who in turn elect the members of the board of directors. The president is chosen from among the members of this council. The general manager implements the strategy that the company must follow. Thus, the MAIF is defined as being ua democratic organization, which guarantees a deep knowledge of the company's interests. Thus, we come to the end of our clarifications about the policy for organizing members of MAIF.
