The ocean and life are intimately linked. More than 3 billion years ago, it was in the ocean that life appeared. The ocean is a common good that we must preserve and on which we depend in many ways: it feeds us, it regulates the climate, it inspires us,...

But human activities have a strong impact on the health of the ocean. If today we talk a lot about pollution, overfishing, there are other concerns linked for example to climate change, the rise in sea level or the acidification of waters.

These changes threaten its functioning, which is nevertheless essential to us.

This course gives you the necessary keys to help you decipher this environment that is the ocean: how it works and its role, the diversity of the organisms it shelters, the resources from which Humanity benefits and to help you understand the current issues and the challenges that must be met for its preservation.

To explore several issues and understand these challenges, we need to look at each other. This is what the MOOC offers by bringing together 33 teacher-researchers and scientists from different disciplines and establishments.
