The Our Planet MOOC invites learners to discover or rediscover the geological history of the Earth in the solar system. Its aim is to provide a state of the art of knowledge on the subject, and to show that while certain results have been acquired, first-order questions still arise.

This MOOC will focus on the place our planet occupies in the solar system. He will also discuss the scenarios currently favored to explain the formation of our planet more than 4,5 billion years ago.

The course will then present the geological Earth which has cooled since its birth, which makes it a planet still active today, as well as the witnesses of this activity: earthquakes, volcanism, but also the Earth's magnetic field. .

It will also address the geological activity of our planet, which reflects the action of the considerable forces that have shaped the Earth as we know it.

This course will finally focus on the Earth under the oceans, and the ocean floor which harbors a very rich biological activity, which questions us about the possible appearance of life in the first kilometers of the solid Earth.
