Several studies have shown that learning a language leads to personality modification

The researchers are now unanimous: learning a language leads to a change in the personality of the learners. The first studies on the subject were carried out in the 60s by the psycholinguist Susan Ervin-Tripp, pioneer in studies on psychology and language development among bilinguals. Susan Ervin-Trip notably conducted the first experimental studies with bilingual adults. She wished to explore in more detail the hypothesis that the content of bilingual speeches changes depending on the language.

In 1968, Susan Ervin-Trip chose as a subject of study women of Japanese nationality living in San Francisco who are married to Americans. Isolated from the Japanese community then residing in America, these women had very little
