Restaurant voucher: provisional measures applicable since June 12, 2020

During the first confinement, people who benefit from restaurant vouchers, could not use them. The Ministry of Labor indicated that nearly 1,5 billion euros in meal vouchers were capitalized during this period.

In order to support restaurateurs and encourage the French to consume in restaurants, the Government had relaxed their rules of use.

Thus, since June 12, 2020, beneficiaries of meal vouchers can use them on Sundays and public holidays:

  • in traditional restaurants;
  • mobile and non-mobile fast food establishments;
  • self-service establishments;
  • restaurants in hotels;
  • breweries offering a catering offer.

In addition, the payment ceiling in these establishments is reduced to 38 euros per day instead of 19 euros.

It remains at 19 euros for shopping at retailers and supermarkets.

These relaxations are temporary. They were to apply until December 31, 2020.

The Ministry of the Economy has just announced the extension of measures to relax the use of meal vouchers.

Restaurant voucher: provisional measures extended until September 1, 2021

Unfortunately, once again, with this second wave of Covid-19 restaurants were forced to close. It has therefore become very difficult to sell its securities for the benefit of restaurants.

To support the catering sector, the Government is extending the flexibility measures put in place since June 12, 2020. Thus, until September 1, 2021, only in restaurants:

  • the daily use limit for meal vouchers is doubled. It therefore remains at 38 euros instead of 19 euros for other sectors ...
