A professional title is a professional certification which makes it possible to acquire specific professional skills and promotes access to employment or the professional development of its holder. It certifies that its holder has mastered the skills, aptitudes and knowledge allowing the exercise of a profession.

In 2017, 7 out of 10 job seekers had access to a job after obtaining a professional title.

Professional titles are registered in the National Directory of Professional Certifications (RNCP) managed by France Competences. Professional titles are made up of blocks of skills called certificates of professional skills (CCP).

  • The professional title covers all sectors (construction, personal services, transport, catering, commerce, industry, etc.) and different levels of qualification:
  • level 3 (former level V), corresponding to the CAP level,
  • level 4 (former level IV), corresponding to the BAC level,
  • level 5 (former level III), corresponding to the BTS or DUT level,
  • level 6 (former level II), corresponding to level BAC+3 or 4.

The examination sessions are organized by approved centers for a period determined by the competent regional directorate for the economy, employment, labor and solidarity (DREETS-DDETS). These centers undertake to comply with the regulations defined for each examination.

  • enter into an agreement with an approved center for the organization of the examination. In this case, they undertake to provide candidates with training that is consistent with the objectives set by the standards and inform candidates of the place and date of the examination.
