Manage your emails with archiving and unarchiving in Gmail

Archiving and unarchiving emails in Gmail lets you keep your inbox organized and find important messages easily. Here's how to archive and unarchive emails in Gmail:

Archive an email

  1. Open your Gmail inbox.
  2. Select the emails you want to archive by checking the boxes to the left of each message.
  3. Click on the “Archive” button represented by a down arrow located at the top of the page. The selected emails will be archived and disappear from your inbox.

When you archive an email, it is not deleted, but simply moved to the "All messages" section of Gmail, accessible from the left column.

Unarchive an email

To unarchive an email and bring it back to your inbox, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "All messages" in the left column of your Gmail inbox.
  2. Find the email you want to unarchive by using the search function or by scrolling through the list of messages.
  3. Select the email by checking the box to the left of the message.
  4. Click the “Move to Inbox” button represented by an up arrow located at the top of the page. The email will then be unarchived and reappear in your inbox.
