The MOOC will be devoted to the study of critical thinking. The challenges of the latter are decisive for contemporary societies. We repeat that we must fight against prejudices, obscurantism and even fanaticism. But one does not learn to think, to criticize the opinions received, to accept them only after a personal work of reflection and examination. So much so that, faced with simplifying, conspiratorial, Manichean theses, we are often deprived of resources because we have not really learned to think and to argue.

However, we often underestimate the difficulty of thinking freely and critically. This is the reason why the course will develop gradually, tackling more and more complex questions. Initially, it will be a question of analyzing the various aspects of critical thinking in its relationship with politics in the broad sense of the term. Then, once the basic concepts are acquired, some brief elements of the history of critical thinking will be presented. We will then move on to a more in-depth analysis of themes intrinsically linked to the problem of critical thinking: secularism, the ability to argue correctly, freedom of expression and atheism.

This MOOC therefore has a double vocation: the acquisition of certain knowledge necessary to fully understand the challenges of critical thinking, and an invitation to think for oneself in a complex world.
