Fluid mechanics is a part of the mechanics and mechanics of continuous media which are major disciplines in the engineer training. The course we offer is an introduction to fluid mechanics, it is taught as part of the general training of engineering students, it can also be very useful for university students or self-taught.

Regarding the basics of fluid mechanics, we will insist a lot on the constitution of fundamental equations of flows obviously using the principles of mechanics and physics supplemented by hypotheses of physical origins on the nature of fluids and flows.

We will focus on physical meaning of equations and we will see how to use them in concrete cases. The applications fluid mechanics are numerous in automotive, aeronautics, civil engineering, chemical engineering, hydraulics, land use planning, medicine, etc.

For this first approach to fluid mechanics we will limit the course to incompressible fluids in permanent flow or not. The fluids will be considered as continuous media. We will call particle, an element of infinitely small volume for a mathematical description but large enough in relation to molecules to be described by continuous functions.
