A certificate of professional qualification (CQP) makes it possible to have the skills and know-how necessary for the exercise of a profession recognized. A CQP is created and issued by one or more national joint employment committees (CPNE) in the professional sector.

The legal existence of the CQP is subject to its transmission to France competences.

The CQPs may have distinct methods of legal recognition:

  • The CQPs that have been transmitted to France competences in charge of professional certification: these CQPs are recognized only in the companies of the branch or branches concerned.
  • CQPs registered in the national directory of professional certifications (RNCP) mentioned in article L. 6113-6 of the Labor Code, at the request of the national joint employment committee(s) that created them, after assent of the France skills commission in charge of professional certification.

Holders of these CQPs can assert them with companies in branches other than the branch or branches carrying the CQP.

Since the 1er January 2019, registration in the national directory of CQP professional certifications, according to the new procedure provided for by the law of September 5, 2018, allows the attribution to the holder of the CQP of a level of qualification, like the diplomas and titles for professional purposes registered in this same directory.

  • The CQPs registered in the specific directory mentioned in article L. 6113-6 of the Labor Code.

Only training actions sanctioned by CQPs that have been registered in the RNCP or in the specific directory are eligible for the personal training account.

TO NOTE
The CQPI, created by at least two branches, validates professional skills common to identical or similar professional activities. It thus promotes the mobility and multidisciplinarity of employees.

Like other professional certifications, each CQP or CQPI is based on:

  • a frame of reference of activities which describes the work situations and the activities carried out, the professions or jobs targeted;
  • a skills framework that identifies the skills and knowledge, including transversal ones, which result from it;
  • an evaluation reference system which defines the criteria and methods for evaluating acquired knowledge (this reference system therefore includes the description of the evaluation tests).
