At a time when the European institutions are seeking a new geopolitical balance, when the appointment of the presidents of the main European institutions has taken center stage for several weeks, do we wonder about what we really know about these institutions?

In our professional life as in our personal life, we are increasingly confronted with so-called “European” rules.

How are these rules defined and adopted? How do the European institutions that decide on this work?

This MOOC aims to clarify what the European institutions are, how they were born, how they operate, the relationships they have with each other and with each of the Member States of the European Union, the decision-making mechanisms. But also the way in which each citizen and actor can influence, directly or through their representatives (MEPs, government, social actors), the content of European decisions, as well as the remedies that may exist.

As we will see, the European institutions are not as distant, bureaucratic or opaque as the image that is often presented. They work at their level for interests that go beyond the national framework.
