Many tasks fall to the municipalities today. Among these activities is the keeping of civil status which obeys a particular legal regime: that of private law.

Indeed, the mayor and his deputies are registrars. Within the framework of this mission, the mayor acts in the name of the State, but under the authority not of the prefect, but of the public prosecutor.

The civil status service, through the registration of births, recognitions, deaths, PACS and the solemnization of marriages, plays an essential role both for each individual but also for the State, public administrations and all the organizations which need to know the legal situation of citizens.

The purpose of this training is to introduce you to the main rules relating to civil status through 5 training sessions which will cover the following topics:

  • civil registrars;
  • the birth ;
  • the wedding
  • death and issuance of civil status certificates;
  • international aspects of civil status

Each session includes training videos, knowledge sheets, a quiz and a discussion forum so you can engage with the speakers.
