With the confinements, the health measures put in place, employees have accumulated meal vouchers, being unable to use them.
In order to support restaurateurs and encourage the French to consume in restaurants, since June 12, 2020, the Government has relaxed the rules for the use of vouchers. These arrangements were to expire on December 31, 2020.
But, in a press release dated December 4, 2020, the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Recovery announced that the measures to relax the terms of use of the meal voucher would be extended until September 1, 2021 inclusive. .
A decree, published on February 3, 2021, confirms the ministerial communication. But beware, the easing measures apply until August 31, 2021.
Restaurant voucher: validity of 2020 vouchers extended (art. 1)
In principle, meal vouchers can only be used as payment for a meal at a restaurant or fruit and vegetable retailer during the calendar year to which they refer and for a period of two months from 1 January of the following year (Labour Code, art. R. 3262-5).
